What is vinegar?
A little reminder for those who have skipped chemistry lessons ... Vinegar is an acidic liquid with a pH generally between 2 and 3. It is obtained thanks to the oxidation of ethanol in wine, cider, beer and other fermented drinks. Common vinegar has a concentration of around 5% to 8% acetic acid but no alcohol as some people think. There are many uses for this miracle product. Here is a good way to save space and avoid products that are too aggressive for the environment.
Vinegar, whether white or household, is very affordable. On average, a bottle of white vinegar costs less than 50 cents in the supermarket. A multi-purpose product, which you will often use to clean your home from top to bottom.
Cleaning and descaling the house with vinegar
Its anti-limescale action is recognized. It is the most economical way to dissolve lime in sinks and on faucets, descale coffee makers and other kettles. 1 liter of water, a glass of white vinegar and hop start the coffee maker or the kettle.
You can also clean the walls of the shower or the toilet bowl. It also helps to whiten the joints, especially in your shower. There is a simple recipe for creating a terrifically effective product. Thanks to it, your bathroom seals will regain their former glory!
How to prepare a vinegar-based joint cleaner?
For this preparation, you need 100ml of white vinegar and 3 to 4 tablespoons of baking soda. Mix the preparation and pour it liberally on your dirty joints. Leave on overnight, making rolls with absorbent paper or rags on the joints. The next morning, your joints will be like new! Bluffing.
It degreases mirrors and windows and makes them shine without leaving any traces. It is therefore a more economical and ecological alternative to the traditional blue window cleaning product, which can be found in supermarkets.
A tip: put it in a spray bottle, it's much more practical than the bottle in which it is usually sold. How to prepare a vinegar-based disinfectant?
For this preparation, you need 1 / 2L of water, 100ml of white vinegar and 3 tablespoons of baking soda powder. In 1/2 liter of water, mix the 100ml of vinegar and the spoons of baking soda. The mixture will bubble a little but don't worry: it is a simple chemical reaction between the two products! Pour the preparation on the area to be disinfected and leave to act ideally overnight before rinsing. This type of preparation cannot be prepared in advance.
A tip: its action can be enhanced by heating it. Hot, it will be able to restore all its brilliance to the crystal and the silverware (to be used in the rinsing water). It will work wonders on saucepans, especially copper: a little coarse salt and vinegar and they will shine brilliantly! To degrease accompanied by soap it will do wonders!
You can also spray it to take advantage of its deodorizing action (use apple cider vinegar and personalize it with a few drops of essential oils). How about scenting your white vinegar ? Choose essential oils of lemon, citrus or lavender that will allow you to pleasantly perfume your interior.
Vinegar and linen
We know less, but it is also useful for laundry. You no longer have an anti-lime? Running the washing machine empty with vinegar helps combat lime scale.
Is the laundry rough? It is also recommended to soften the laundry (in addition it helps to remove certain stains such as ink, coffee, rust, wine and traces of detergents). You can easily replace your fabric softener with 1/2 cup of white vinegar. No odor guaranteed, and a soft cloth after your laundry! For more efficiency, you can add a tablespoon of baking soda to balance the mixture.
How to prepare 1L of fabric softener?
The recipe is very simple. You need 350ml of white vinegar, 350ml of water and 20 drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil. In a container, pour and mix the vinegar and water. Add the drops of essential oil, then mix until a homogeneous liquid is obtained. The preparation is then poured into a glass bottle or an old vinegar bottle.
Vinegar also helps fix colors. Immerse your colorful cotton clothes in lukewarm water with a glass of vinegar. They will keep their colors longer.
In the garden
White vinegar is the friend of budding gardeners. As in the home, it is a product that has several uses. It allows you to maintain your garden with a product that is not very aggressive for nature.

Precautions for use
Use gloves to prevent it from harming your skin. Never use white vinegar with bleach: it creates a chemical reaction and toxic fumes. And if you find its smell too strong, add a few drops of lemon juice!
